Tun Abdul Razak Musical
History lesson in almost 2 hours and it proves to be very informative.

Thanks to Cecilia and Miss Kiera for my ticket to the Tun Abdul Razak The Musical. Cheap and chic like me loves free everything, from meals to entrance!! oppss….

This musical was directed by Dato’ Rahim Razali and the main players like Rashidi Ishak and Fauziah Latif. watching this musical is like reading a biography of Tun Abdul Razak. Story was narrated in a manner that mortal/musical blind man can understand. I think I know all about this former PM but boy… I am so wrong. The facts like his best collogue/deputy Tun Dr Ismail plays so significant role during Tun Abdul Razak tenure was told in a very short but precise manner. I never knew that Tun Dr Ismail die of cancer because this deputy get less coverage… until last night! And also about Rancangan Buku Hijau, MAGERAN and everthing! What a refresher moment!

Superb performance from the actors, Rashidi Ishak and please stand guys, stand to Fauziah Latif as Razak wife, Rahah. She acts like a total stage diva and she sings like it’s a concert! Standing ovation to Fauziah, you deserved it girl!
I am not a theatre expert. This is just my honest opinion and from what I saw. The story was great but the sound was quite disappointing. I don’t know what went wrong, but in some part I can’t really hear what are they singing/saying! Maybe it is because of the loud music or the voice of the casts is too slow. But this comment does not apply to Fauziah Latif!

The costume is important to period musical. Kudos to the costume designer for bringing back the memories of the good old day, especially in Rashidi and Fauziah costume. I also love the tight kebaya and baju kurung worn by the supporting. But it is not the same story for children, because some of them are in 2009 ready to wear collection. I don’t think Croc existed in 1960’s and 1970’s because one of the children is in that. I must say something about costume … sorry guys.
Well…maybe the costume designer like Croc so much, because he is also in that (yes… this Croc belongs to the costume designer- taken during the finale!)

You can still watch this musical at Panggung Sari, Istana Budaya from 16 to 20 August. Ticket priced at RM30 to RM50 (student RM11.50). For ticket info go to ticket2u or call 03-4026555.
