I love being fickle vegetarian, it is part of being a style-holic. You must at least claim that you are a vegan, eat sushi, tell everyone you are in detox regime and attend yoga classes!

 My fickle vegan diet is so fickle. I wake up, and think about becoming a vegetarian, drink tomato juice and then suddenly I think I am so close to Chris Martin and Moby, PETA will love me and I am a celebrity.

That is my feel when vegetarian mood struck me!

The worst part of become a vegetarian is a very limited choice. You must eat whatever they served you. Like during my flight with Malaysian Airlines…. This is part of my vegetarian meal!

A visit to Sabah would not be complete if you failed to visit their open market. It is like you are in a place where you can find something exotic and really unexpected.

Like most the fashion diva will say, “I am more like a mall person” I will also will say “I am more like a mall person”. It is true, I am a mall person.  It is comfortable and the most important thing is I can sneak into a fitting room and try at least three pair of jeans before slashing my plastic!

But, nevertheless, I always like the energy of the open market, especially the sound and the smell …. Ok… not really the smell…some area of the Tamu Pekan Kota Belud smell like a dead fish because they do sell dead fish at this famous open market!

Quick info (I love this part, felt like so knowledgeable!). Tamu Pekan Kota Belud is located in Kota Belud (KB) District (where else) and it is around 80 km from Kota Kinabalu (KK). It is a pleasant view from KK to KB. Enjoy your drive. Don’t rush. This open market is only operate during weekend.

The products available in this Tamu are dead fish, local handicraft, traditional delicacies and almost anything including fake designer shades!

If you like it big, plan you trip around October where they will having the Grand Tamu Bear. Expect a lot of things to buy (it is grand, so you must spend grand), Bajau horse race and Ratu Serimpak aka Bajau Beauty Queen (don’t expect them to be in two piece bikini or Marchesa evening gown, they will be parade in Bajau traditional costume).

Tamu in Malay means guest. So believe me, you’ll be treated like a royal guest when you are in Tamu Pekan Kota Belud.

Especially when it comes to bowl, the bowling ball seems to conspire with the lane and the borrowed shoes to make me look like a loser.

My BFF, Mimi invited me to Sutra Harbour Beach Resort, Kota Kinabalu to watch her bowl at amateur bowling tournament organized by an association. FYI,  I stayed around Sutra Harbour group of hotels like hundred times but this is the time I ever touch my sneakers on their bowling alley, I mean my sneakers, not the one I borrowed from the Bowl Counter!

As usual, when you hate something, there’s something. I was asked by the organizer to be the MC. So, me in my fedora, skinny jeans, Proshop Polo tees and striking RED shoes, try to entertain the Borneo Bowlers with my fake Sabahan accent!

Cut story short, everyone knows I am not from Sabah, but I guess the Sabahan Bowlers like me!!I  Maybe because of my style, some said I have an edgy style and look like a celebrities…I didn’t said that, they did!

I can’t stop chatting with all the bowlers, exchange a few numbers and almost distracted them from the game. I don’t want to say who, but you know who you are. I can be included into a likeable category!

Frankly, I never celebrate Valentine. I am not into the idea of having a specific special day with your loved ones that include your partner, mother, father, friend’s bla, bla bla…why we need a day to celebrate? I know you’ll hate me for this, but I am soooo not into Valentine…

During that so called Valentine weekend, me and my friend decided to watch a movie called Upin and Ipin . It is a very funny animation Malay movie. Set in typical Malaysian kampung, it’s really making me think of my late grandma. At last, a Malaysian movie that touch my heart after Sepet. I am proud to declare myself as a Malaysian movie audience.

Then we have dinner at Bintang Lagenda Café. It is an old Malay movie star concept café and expects to hear old P.Ramlee songs. Nothing fancy about the café, just a café near the big supermarket.

I am having Asam Pedas Aziz Satar set that come with rice and pandan leaves syrup while my friend is having a laksa with teh tarik. My verdict for the food, 6 out of 10.

We just eat and watch mothers and aunties paying for their groceries at the nearest cashiers.

Maybe because of the rice, I just sleep and sleep…

This photo is nothing to do with that so called valentine. It is my bed at Novotel One Borneo. Let’s say I am not so happy with the room. Shifting at 10 pm because the automatic electronic door keeps buzzing… I am not happy, really!

The door incident makes me hate Valentine more!
