World first black supermodel

Before Naomi and Tyra ruled the world, there was Naomi Simms.

Naomi Simms, 61, died Aug 1. She had breast cancer.

She is described as the first black supermodel. Her appearances including on the cover of Ladies’ Home Journal, Vogue and Life magazines and a New York Times fashion magazine. She owned a multi-million dollar cosmetics and hair care business, called the Naomi Sims Collection. Oprah Winfrey and Harvard Business School endorsed her as a skilled entrepreneur. She is also penned a four books.
